FAMAGUSTA - SALAMIS

Private

Our path lies to the east, towards the most beautiful coasts of Cyprus. Along the way, we will visit a family jewelry workshop, where the products of local artisans are on display.

Next, we will explore the ancient city-state of Salamis, which was the capital of Cyprus in the 4th century BC and is said to have been founded after the Trojan War, according to legend. You will marvel at the well-preserved amphitheater and the stunning marble sculptures.

We will then visit the historically rich city of Famagusta. The city's heyday occurred during the Venetian period, when it was the most significant trading port in the Mediterranean under Venetian rule. We will walk through the narrow streets of the city, learn about the history of the unique Gothic Cathedral of St. Nicholas, and visit the Tower of Othello. The events of 1974 also left their mark on this area, as part of Famagusta became a ghost town for over forty years. You will see the abandoned hotels and deserted streets of this eerie ghost town. It’s no secret why so many hotels were built in this area at that time—this is where the best beaches of Cyprus are located.

On one of these beautiful beaches, we will have the opportunity to relax, soak up the sun on the white sand, and swim in the azure waters.
